The opposition party has officially launched a coalition to promote constitutional amendment that shortens the term of Yoon Suk Yeol's president by two years.

In addition, 25 lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea, the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, and the Social Democratic Party and five outside regional chairmen held a press conference at the National Assembly to launch the "referendum for the dismissal of the president" and said they would expedite legal procedures for an early end to the regime.

They argued that President Yoon's public statement has now changed public sentiment from anger to retribution, and that they will open an era of national sovereignty in which the sovereign directly recovers the power entrusted by the sovereign through a constitutional amendment that must go through a referendum.
