A former police officer who stole billions of won in rental deposits from tenants has been arrested and put on trial.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office arrested and charged a man in his 40s with fraud today (8th).

Two acquaintances who lent their names in the process of buying a multi-family house were also indicted without detention on charges of violating the Real Name Real Estate Act.

Lee, a former police officer, is accused of failing to return the 6 billion won deposit to dozens of tenants while conducting a multi-family housing rental project in Gwanak-gu, Seoul from September 2019 to December last year.

Lee was found to have reassured the victims by showing them his civil service card at the time of the contract.
