U.S. President-elect Donald Trump mentioned the border in his first call with Mexico's president, hinting at a hard-line response to the issue of illegal immigration.Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum talks about friendly relations between the two countries in a telephone conversation with Trump at a press conference on the 8th local time. Trump said he suddenly mentioned the border issue.

President Sheinbaum replied that he would have an opportunity to talk about the border issue and said that we would face the issue as it is.

Trump's mention of the border issue in his first call with Mexico's president is interpreted as an expression of his willingness to respond hard to illegal immigration as a top priority to strengthen the border after taking office.

President-elect Trump also previously said during the campaign that he would impose a 25% tariff on all Mexican products if Mexico did not block illegal immigrants from entering the United States and bringing drugs into the country.
