Lee Choong-sang, a standing member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, suddenly submitted his resignation letter with nearly a year left in his term.

The specific reason for the resignation is not known.

Lee was appointed as a standing member of the Human Rights Commission in 2022 after serving as a judge and a lawyer and a professor of law at Kyungpook National University.

Since July last year, he has been audited for a year due to the workplace harassment controversy and was judged as "inappropriate words and actions," but under the National Public Officials Act, political officials were not subject to disciplinary action and were terminated.
