Women and minors account for 70% of Palestinian deaths in the U.N.-verified Gaza war.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights released an update report on the human rights situation in Gaza on the 8th local time, and said that 8,119 Palestinians were confirmed to have died in the Gaza war.

Among them, 2,36 were adult women, 1,865 were underage men, and 1,723 were underage women, accounting for 69% of the total.

The youngest victim was a one-day-old baby boy and the oldest was a 97-year-old woman.

Eighty-eight percent of the deaths were attributed to the Israeli military using weapons that harm large areas.

However, some deaths may be due to Palestinian armed groups misbombing missiles, the report added.

The 32-page report's scope of "verified deaths" covered by the United Nations is much narrower than the Palestinian health authorities' announcement that 43,000 people died in the 13 months since the war began.

However, Ajit Soonghai, head of the U.N. human rights office in charge of the Palestinian region, said the death toll is so high that verification is taking time, and the final tally is likely to be similar to the figures released by the Palestinian side.
