The Seoul Central District Court ruled that some of the plaintiffs won the damage suit filed by the former director of Seocho-gu District Office against the former family relationship registration team leader B and the welfare policy director C.
The court acknowledged the perjury responsibility of B and C, but considered that they did not intend to frame it, and reduced the amount of alimony from 30 million won to 20 million won, which was ruled by the first trial.
Last year, the first trial court ruled that B and C should pay A 30 million won, including compensation for damages caused by mental suffering, because they believed that they intended to frame him.
In June 2013, A was accused of inquiring about the family relationship register of a child who was designated as the son of former Prosecutor General Chae Dong-wook and handing it to an NIS employee.
Later, B and C were sentenced to eight months in prison for perjury, and a reinvestigation of the NIS's leadership's involvement in the former president Chae's background investigation was conducted, and it turned out that someone else committed the crime.
