Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a senior Democratic politician, pointed to President Joe Biden as the cause of the defeat amid calls for accountability over the Democratic Party's presidential election defeat.

"If President Biden had given up his re-election bid earlier, other candidates might have entered the race," Pelosi said in an interview with The New York Times on the 7th local time.

"If the race had been held, Vice President Kamala Harris would have done better and stronger," he said, lamenting that "but that did not happen."

"President Biden supported Vice President Harris shortly after he resigned, making it almost impossible for a primary to take place," he said, adding that "the situation would have been different if he had resigned much earlier."

In addition, Senator Bernie Sanders pointed out that the cause of the Democratic Party's presidential defeat was "the result of abandoning workers," he said, "I respect and support Senator Sanders, but I do not agree with that argument."

Instead, they claimed that the Democrats lost the votes of the working class because of their failure to properly address cultural issues such as guns, faith, and LGBTQ people.
