The French national soccer team will play a home game against Israel in Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League A at Stade de France outside Paris on the evening of the 14th.
French authorities have decided to significantly tighten security in and around the stadium on the day after various incidents took place at home and abroad ahead of the game, in addition to intensifying anti-Semitic movements after the Gaza war that began last year.
Earlier on the 4th, about 40 pro-Palestinian protesters visited the French Football Association (FFF) office to demand the cancellation of the game against Israel, and some demanded that the stadium be moved elsewhere.
In the midst of this, Israeli soccer fans who came to Amsterdam to cheer for the away game were attacked everywhere on the night of the 7th.
Paris police will deploy a total of 2,500 police and military officers around the stadium to prevent a similar incident, daily Le Parisien reported.
To limit the number of people in the stadium, the top of the stands will be closed, and the bottom will also be restricted to reduce the risk of entering the stadium.
In addition, the movement of the Israeli national team was kept as confidential as possible, so the national team's accommodation was not disclosed.
"Some call for Israel and the game to be moved elsewhere, but France will not back down against the threat of violence and antisemitism," Interior Minister Bruno LeTao told X. "Police are taking necessary security measures to ensure that the game can be held in Stade de France as usual."
