Argentina's President Javier Milay, dubbed the "Trump of South America," is cheering for President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, local media reported.

President Milley, who did not hide his respect for Trump and wished to win the election when he met at an event for a U.S. conservative group in February, posted as many as 60 congratulatory messages on social media over the past few days.

President Milley will participate as a speaker at a conservative group event at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where Trump is staying, and meet with Trump on the 14th.

Argentine stock and bond markets rose as Trump shared his political ideology with Milay and expected him to help the Milay government by considering Argentina an important U.S. partner.

However, local media feared that if Trump's U.S.-first policy is implemented, the strong dollar could hurt Argentina, which exports agricultural products, and raise the cost of securing funds in the international financial market.
