"10 national universities, 17 billion medical school tuition will be carried over and returned"

As the government entrusts the approval of medical student leave to university autonomy, tuition fees that must be returned to students at 10 national universities or carried over after returning to school amounted to 17 billion won.

According to the data submitted by Rep. Jin Sun-mi of the Democratic Party of Korea, 10 national universities nationwide will return or carry over KRW 170.965 billion in tuition income under the approval of medical student leave of absence.

Seoul National University carried over 3.44 billion won in medical student tuition, while Chonbuk National University had 2.8 billion won and Kyungpook National University had 2.12 billion won.

According to the university rules, if you approve a leave of absence, the student's already paid tuition must be returned or handed over to the semester of return to school.

It is estimated that about 5,300 students have been approved or are scheduled to take a leave of absence from 10 national universities.
