For the first time, one of the missing people of the Geumseong ship that sank off the coast of Jeju Island was found on the bottom of the sea around the hull.

The Coast Guard is looking for additional missing people, but underwater searches are difficult due to bad weather.

This is reporter Kim Ki-soo.

The Navy found the first missing person around the sunken hull using a remote-controlled underwater robot, R.O.V.

A man in his 60s was identified as a Korean sailor aboard the Venus, and he was wearing a waterproof work suit.

The spot found is 92m deep,

has been identified as bottom of the seabed.

[Ko Myung-chul / Jeju Provincial Coast Guard Chief: The depth found is about 92m. As you said, we cannot rule out the possibility of other missing people around us, so we will continue to search.

The Coast Guard and Navy deployed 50 ships and nine aircraft to search for additional missing persons.

The search range has also been expanded to 51km wide and 19km long, reflecting the results of the seawater flow system.

However, it was difficult to search underwater where divers were put in due to bad weather, such as rain and wind.

[Ko Myung-chul / Jeju Regional Coast Guard Head: Preliminary special warnings are in effect even in the distant sea and the weather is bad. So, we plan to establish and implement a search plan later in consideration of the weather.]

The Navy deployed underwater search equipment, an R.O.V., despite difficult weather conditions, but found no additional missing persons.

Private rescue companies and deep-sea divers, who were originally scheduled to join them late at night, arrived at the search site around noon and are watching the situation.

The Coast Guard will continue its night search to find additional missing people.
