Former President Trump has emphasized his friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. After taking office, it was predicted that it would be more difficult to deal with North Korea.

CNN reported that North Korea sent military troops to the war in Ukraine to support Russia and pushed ahead with test launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles and ICBMs capable of hitting the U.S. before the presidential election.

It also analyzed that the South Korean government in Yoon Suk Yeol is sticking to its hard-line North Korea policy, making it more difficult to reach an agreement between the U.S. and North Korea to curb North Korea's nuclear and missile weapons programs.

During his first term in office, former President Trump met with Kim Jong-un three times through two U.S.-North Korea summits and Panmunjom meetings, but failed to come up with a solution to the North Korean nuclear issue.

Former President Trump also expressed his willingness to resolve the issue after taking office, showing off his friendship with Chairman Kim Jong-un during the presidential campaign and saying that North Korea will stop provocations if he returns to power.

Robert O'Brien, a former national security adviser to the first Trump administration, also told CNN in September that he would resume talks with North Korea if former President Trump returned to power.
