LG Ensol supplies batteries to SpaceX spacecraft

LG Energy Solution will supply batteries to the SpaceX spacecraft, a space company led by Tesla Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk.

According to the industry, LG Energy Solution is developing customized products after being commissioned by SpaceX to deliver batteries for power supply to be mounted on the spacecraft.

The cylindrical lithium-ion battery product under development is expected to enter the next-generation space shuttle "Starship," which will be introduced by SpaceX as early as next year.

Starship is a spacecraft developed by SpaceX with the goal of exploring the moon and Mars, and it successfully completed its fifth Earth orbit test last month.

Musk has been developing Starship with the goal of pioneering Mars and allowing humans to migrate.

In response to the slowing growth of the electric vehicle market, LG Energy Solution is striving to strengthen its portfolio of customers and products and increase the proportion of non-electric vehicle businesses such as energy storage devices.
