Retail sales fell in 12 out of 17 cities and provinces nationwide in the third quarter of this year.

Service production, which can measure service consumption, also decreased in more than half of nine cities and provinces.

On the 11th, the National Statistical Office announced the regional economic trends for the third quarter.

Retail sales, which refers to the consumption of goods, increased in five cities and provinces, including Chungnam and Chungbuk, in the third quarter and decreased in 12 cities and provinces, including Incheon and Gangwon.

Retail sales nationwide fell 1.9% due to a drop in sales of specialty retailers, supermarkets, and general stores, the report showed.

The production of the service industry, which can measure service consumption, increased in eight cities and provinces, including Jeju and Incheon, but decreased in nine cities and provinces, including Gyeongnam and Sejong.
