FTC imposes fines of 1.1 trillion on 289 unfair cases over 2 1/2 years

In the two-and-a-half years of the Yoon Suk Yeol government, fines imposed by the Fair Trade Commission exceeded 1 trillion won.

The Fair Trade Commission today (11th) announced the results of the Yoon Suk Yeol government's fair trade sector and future policy implementation plans.

Since the inauguration of the government in May 2022, a total of 5,837 cases have been released by the FTC, with 3,76 cases above warning and 574 corrective actions.

289 cases with a high degree of illegality were fined KRW 1.557 trillion, and 75 cases were filed with the prosecution.

The FTC also pushed for a supply unit linkage system for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and strengthened punitive damages for technology use.

He explained that he has also taken measures to protect overseas online platforms related to consumers, compensate for damage to probability-based game items, and respond to damage to Timon and Wemakeff.

Cho Hong-sun, vice chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, said, "We have made efforts to stabilize people's livelihoods and create a foundation for expanding the market's inherent efficiency and dynamics," adding, "We will try to make sure that the results are felt in the future."
