The chairmen of the People's Power Party outside the party have officially asked the party leadership to revive the district party system.

Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyuk, chairman of the party cooperation committee outside the party, told reporters after the Supreme Council that he reported a request for the revival of the district party in the name of 129 members of the party cooperation committee outside the party.

Both Han Dong-hoon and Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, agreed to revive the district party, pointing out that it is incomprehensible that the ruling party, which has more outside the party than the Democratic Party, opposes it.

The district party system, which was created in 1962, was criticized during the 2002 presidential election through the "car-off incident," and was abolished in 2004 through the so-called "Oh Se-hoon Act."

Since then, local party organizations have been operated under the name of the party's cooperation committee, but it has been pointed out that they are disadvantageous to political newcomers due to restrictions on setting up offices and raising donations.
