Singer and actress IU is fighting against the haters. Among the malicious comments under criminal complaint, a person believed to be a middle school classmate was reportedly included.

According to IU's agency EDAM Entertainment and law firm (Yuhan) Shinwon today (11th), there are a total of 180 defendants so far, and additional complaints are still being filed.

The agency said, "We have selected serious cases that meet criminal requirements among threatening, insulting, spreading malicious false information and raising unfounded plagiarism allegations, defamation, death threats and invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, distribution of pornography, the production and dissemination of illegal composites using AI, and other illegal information distribution activities."

So far, six fines (old-fashioned dispositions), three conditional suspensions of prosecution for completing training, and one conditional suspension of prosecution for the lead consignment of probation offices. Among them, those who committed defamation, sexual harassment, and death threats in the form of cyberbullying for spreading unfounded false information about IU were very guilty, and the prosecutor demanded a fine of 3 million won. The accused is dissatisfied and awaiting the results of the formal trial.

In addition, Lee Dam said, "In the case of a person who continuously harassed IU through various sites, the prosecution judged that the crime charge was serious and formally requested a trial to the court, not a summary procedure, and accordingly, the trial process is currently underway."

In particular, "the personal information of some of those who defamed IU by raising suspicions of plagiarism without grounds was identified. We also secured personal information about those who used overseas servers to commit illegal activities and some who are believed to be overseas residents, he said. "Some of them are believed to be IU's middle school alumni, and they are responding because they are found to have continued to harass IU even though related cases are ongoing."

After filing a complaint against a person who spread false rumors (spying rumors) about IU in May last year, the police identified the suspect as soon as possible and completed the first investigation, and is currently being sent to the prosecution for disposition.

"In addition to regular quarterly complaints, we are responding quickly and actively by conducting individual complaints," Lee Dam said. "We and our artists make it clear that there will be no agreement or leniency for the haters."
