An incumbent police officer accused of stealing 300 million won worth of confiscated goods will be tried in custody.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office today (11th) arrested and charged sergeant Jeong with embezzlement and theft.

Sergeant Jeong, who has been in charge of managing confiscated materials under the investigation department of the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, is accused of taking 75 million won of seized cash from the confiscated storage warehouse between June and July and spending it on futures investments.

He is also accused of taking out 225 million won in cash from the confiscated storage warehouse 12 times, saying he had to "find the goods" even after moving to another department.

The police immediately arrested Sergeant Jeong at the office last month and removed his position.
