The Navy's Cheonghaejin's remote-controlled underwater robot, R.O.V., has discovered the second missing person on the Venus.
Identification identified him as a Korean male sailor in his 60s.
The site of the discovery was around the same hull as the first missing person found on the 9th, and it was difficult to salvage due to the large amount of waste nets.
Currently, the hull of the Venus is found to have fallen straight on the floor.
Coast Guard says first and second missing person found in similar location
Four additional underwater robots were deployed around where missing people were found, further strengthening the search.
The plan is to focus more on searching using underwater robots in consideration of safety issues than on the deployment of deep-sea divers who need rest due to decompression problems.
[Jeong Moo-won / Jeju Regional Coast Guard Head of Security Safety Division: R.O.V. equipment has been searching for hours, but when a deep-sea diver enters, it decompresses. If you decompress when you go up, we know that there is only a limited amount of time you can actually work.]
However, the Coast Guard explained that even if an underwater robot is used, it will take time only for the first search as it is difficult to secure a view due to the deep depth of the accident site.
[Ko Myung-chul / Jeju Regional Coast Guard Chief: (Underwater robots) are searching around the ship. However, it is difficult to search due to restrictions on securing underwater visibility due to deep depth and nets.
The Coast Guard also expanded the search area and deployed 47 ships and eight aircraft.
However, as the search continued throughout the day and no additional discovery was heard, the families of the missing moved to Aewol Port and toured the search site in person.
The families of the missing hope for a miracle in the day-to-day search operation.
