China reaffirms "constructive relationship" to re-elect Japanese prime minister

With Shigeru Ishiba, the president of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, re-elected prime minister, China has repeatedly sent a message to build a constructive and stable relationship between the two countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Zhen said at a regular briefing that he would not comment on Japan's internal affairs, but that the development of long-term, sound relations with China is in the fundamental interests of the people of both countries.

Earlier, China's foreign ministry made a similar stance during Prime Minister Ishiba's first inauguration, adding that it hoped Japan would use history as an example to maintain a path of peaceful development and establish an objective and correct Chinese perception.

Prime Minister Ishiba took the top spot in today's elections for the prime minister of the House of Representatives (House of Representatives) and the upper house (Senate of Representatives) and re-entered the prime minister's post for the first time in 40 days since his inauguration on the 1st of last month.

Earlier, on the 9th of last month, the House of Representatives was dissolved early and a general election was held, but the number of seats in the Liberal Democratic Party and the ruling New Komeito Party fell short of the majority.
