The prosecution, which is investigating the alleged intervention of the nomination, called the arrest warrant for a key figure, Myung Tae-kyun, a serious issue that distorted the principles of representative democracy and seriously undermined the transparency of political funds.

Prosecutors said the arrest warrant distorted the principle of representative democracy by combining political power and money, saying that Myung was close to the then leader of the People's Power Party and the presidential candidate couple.

The prosecution believes that Myung received 70 million won on 16 occasions since August last year in exchange for the nomination of former lawmaker Kim Young-sun.

In addition, it is understood that 120 million won was received in cash from two people, including the head of a local government in Yeongnam and a preliminary candidate for a metropolitan city council in the 8th local election.

The prosecution believes that Myung received money along with two other people, including former lawmaker Kim, in the process.

Prosecutors say Myung has already destroyed evidence, including three mobile phones and one USB, as a reason for requesting a warrant, and there is a fear of eliminating the remaining evidence.

He also explained that there is a good possibility of escaping or disappearing in a situation where a heavy sentence is inevitable.
