The agreement states that citizens can use mutual tourism facilities at a discounted price with the aim of attracting tourists and revitalizing exchanges in the two cities.
Specific discussions are currently underway for the implementation of the agreement, and discounts will be available after February next year.
Major tourist attractions in Bucheon, including the Korean Cartoon Museum and Lake Botanic Garden Supia, as well as Okayama Castle and Gorakuen, one of Japan's top three gardens, are being considered for the discount.
Earlier this month, Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik visited Okayama City during a business trip to Japan and signed an agreement, and operated a Bucheon tourism promotion booth in the shopping district of Omotecho, a shopping attraction, and announced Bucheon tourist attractions.
The promotional booth introduced major festivals and contents of Bucheon favored by Japanese, including the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Bucheon International Cartoon Festival, and the Bucheon International Animation Festival.
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik said, "I felt that Okayama citizens are very interested in Bucheon's major festivals and tourism contents," adding, "We look forward to seeing more citizens of the two cities travel and exchange in the wake of the agreement on discounting tourist facilities."
