According to the Associated Press, Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich expressed expectations for the reopening of the cathedral, saying at a press conference on the 13th local time, "There is a great desire to welcome people from all over the world under the palace of Notre Dame Cathedral."
Olivier Rivado, the head priest of Dumas Cathedral, also said the restoration was in the final stages, saying it was "time to find Notre Dame again."
As of the time of construction, the 861-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire during renovations on April 15, 2019, collapsing its 96m-high spire and destroying most of its wooden roof.
After five years of restoration, it will officially reopen on the evening of the 7th of next month.
In response, a ceremony will be held that evening, attended by key parish figures and domestic and foreign figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron will deliver a short speech in the square in front of the cathedral, not inside it, in accordance with secularist principles separating the church from the state, before attending a mass to commemorate the reopening inside the cathedral.
The cathedral's first public mass, attended by ordinary believers, will be held on the morning of the 8th.
The cathedral will be open to the public until 10 p.m. for a week from the 8th to the 14th, considering that visitors to the cathedral will flock at the beginning of its reopening.
An online pre-booking system will also be in operation to control the number of concurrent visitors, and pre-bookings will only be available two days before the date of the visit.
Group visitors can enter from February next year.
