The national soccer team, which is aiming to advance to the World Cup finals for the 11th consecutive time, will start two straight A matches with the Middle East, starting with Captain Son Heung-min, who returned from injury.

The national team, led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, will play Kuwait on the road tonight at 11 p.m. in the 5th World Cup qualifying round.

Korea is ranked 22nd in the FIFA rankings, leading the group with three consecutive World Cup qualifiers, and the last time it lost to 135th-ranked Kuwait was in the 2000 Asian Cup.

Son Heung-min, who was out due to a thigh injury during the World Cup qualifying round last month, rejoined the team, and if he scores today, he will become his 50th goal in the A-match, and Hwang Sun-hong, his senior, and the second-highest score ever.

European teams, including Lee Kang-in, Kim Min-jae, Lee Jae-sung and Hwang In-beom, are also out and waiting for the showdown.
