Strengthening Compensation for Regional General and Specialized Hospitals...Establishment of a medical accident review committee

Following the government's restructuring of high-level general hospitals to focus on the treatment of severely ill patients, the government has decided to strengthen compensation to local general hospitals and specialized and specialized hospitals with medical capabilities to foster them intensively.

In addition, a medical accident review committee composed of the government, the medical community, and the legal community will be established to strengthen the expertise of medical accident investigations.

The Presidential Special Committee on Medical Reform held the 7th meeting at the Government Complex Seoul yesterday (13th) and discussed this.

Members of the special committee on medical reform have decided to redefine the role of secondary hospitals and reorganize the compensation system so that excellent secondary hospitals are not disadvantaged in compensation.

In addition, in order to foster specialized and specialized hospitals, we plan to reclassify existing specialized hospital types and strengthen compensation based on performance.

In addition, in order to reduce the risk of investigating medical accidents, we plan to increase our expertise by establishing a medical accident review committee to determine whether essential medical care and whether there is serious negligence from the beginning of the investigation.
