[Chungbuk] Calls for the Establishment of Private Runways at Cheongju International Airport

Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheongju-si, and local lawmakers held a press conference at the National Assembly to urge the establishment of a private runway at Cheongju International Airport.

In a statement, they said Cheongju Airport had more than 4 million passengers for the first time since its opening, arguing that a half-way airport that has never been able to fully use the runway cannot cope with surging aviation demand.

The press conference was organized to urge the establishment of a runway as the finalization of the 7th airport development comprehensive plan is about a year away in November next year.

Chungcheongbuk-do plans to gather capabilities to persuade the government by the second half of next year when the national plan is finalized.
