The Gangwon Police Agency arrested four people, including the chief A in his 30s, on charges of opening a gambling space and booked 88 members and 191 gambling participants without detention.
Mr. A and others are accused of opening an illegal gambling site with a server in Vietnam in October last year and operating illegal gambling sites that conduct bakara and Sports Toto through consignment management companies in various parts of Korea.
Over the past 20 months, the stakes at gambling centers have reached 170 billion won, and criminal profits have reached 3.7 billion won.
The police arrested the chief A, who returned to Korea during the investigation of the Internet gambling case in Sokcho in May, and the rest of the group who are fleeing from abroad were placed on Interpol red wanted list.
