A production presentation for Coupang Play entertainment show "Shooting Star" was held at Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul at 2 p.m. today (14th). Producer Cho Hyo-jin and Park Ji-sung, Choi Yong-soo, Seol Ki-hyun and Kim Young-kwang attended and introduced the program.
'Shooting Star' is a growing soccer entertainment in which retired legendary players, including captain Kim Young-kwang, gather as a team with general manager Park Ji-sung and manager Choi Yong-soo to challenge for the K-League once again. I wonder what kind of story "FC Shooting Star," which brings together Korean soccer legends as the head coach, will tell.
Park Ji-sung, who will show his new appearance as a general manager, as well as the best members, including coach Choi Yong-soo, coach Seol Ki-hyun, Kim Young-kwang, Yeom Ki-hoon, Go Yo-han, Hyun Young-min, Kwon Soon-hyung and Dejan, are raising fans' expectations by predicting their performance under the name of "FC Shooting Star."
"When I was first offered a general manager, I thought, 'Am I that old?'" general manager Park Ji-sung said about the background of his joining, "I accepted it because I thought it was a program that could show the hope of returning the passion of the players, the K-League, and the sincerity of the players."
"The players are more passionate than I thought. Director Choi Yong-soo said he would show the woke leader with the coating staff, and I think it will be a point for viewers to feel new," he said.
Regarding the intention of planning the program, producer Cho Hyo-jin said, "I will make a program that plays real soccer. Unlike before, I thought that it would be meaningful if I could show my passion and sincerity for soccer and help Hangu soccer even a little. I would be surprised to see how passionate retired players are. I wanted to shed some light on that," he said. PD
said, "We don't say it's our first recording, it's our first training, but after the first training, Seol Ki-hyun even said, 'Is it really okay to play soccer like this?' I wanted to shed light on how the soccer team was created, how it played games, and what it thought based on winning or losing. I made it with all my heart," he added.
In this regard, when asked, "Which side is closer to documentary and entertainment?" he said, "I think programs these days have a mixture of entertainment and documentary characteristics as a whole. I think I can tell you that this program is a sports reality that has a good mix of emotion and laughter." When asked if he has any plans for full-fledged entertainment activities in the wake of
'Shooting Star', he said, "I'm not greedy to enter entertainment with this opportunity. "I don't think the people who regularly appear on entertainment shows are great and I can't follow them, and I don't think I can do it carelessly."
"If you show 'this is what players do' and 'this is what players and coaches talk about on the field,' wouldn't those who weren't interested in soccer be interested at all?" I think I can show the mindset of legendary players to young players. Also, if you look at the coach and the coach's tiki-taka, you can see why this can be called an entertainment show," he expected.
Coach Choi Yong-soo said, "At first, I thought, 'Why should I do this?' It is because it is far from entertainment in terms of character, but it was attractive that the friends who retired from the current role gathered again and revived their passion. I thought I wanted to give it a try," he said. "Most of all, I was happy to join the team after hearing that it was Park Ji-sung," he added.
Coach Seol Ki-hyun joked, "I thought, 'It won't be easy' because I heard I was with coach Choi Yong-soo," and added, "There are some conflicts, but there were many things to learn." In my view, as a 'Shooting Star' manager, I felt that there was no replacement for the K-League leaders. I think it will be a great help as a leader because it is a different experience, and it was good to learn under the director," he said.
Captain Kim Young-kwang, who said, "I thought I could feel the feeling of 'being alive again' that I forgot after retirement," said, "The coach gave me faith so that the players could trust and play." In addition, the players have retired and gathered, and they are eager to win. It seems that the feeling of not wanting to lose became the driving force that made us unite as one even if we didn't do anything. It seems that the thought that his body was broken like this also burned his mind.
Asked about what he wanted from the players, general manager Park Ji-sung said, "If you have any regrets, it will be an opportunity to shake them off, and I hope you feel a sense of challenge to do something again if you decide on your own." I also hope this will open up many opportunities," he said.
There are many sports entertainment shows now, including the "strongest baseball" with a strong fan base, so there are also questions about whether they can show differentiation. PD
said, "There were already a lot of sports entertainment before the 'strongest baseball', and there were programs that retired people played in, and there were soccer and baseball, and I think it's a good program because the truth touches me." I think we need to learn the good things, and I think it is important to express reality within various characteristics of soccer. Rather than being conscious of other programs, I wanted to show the integrity of soccer through this program in terms of the integrity that is already emphasized in many entertainment shows," he said.
Coach Choi Yong-soo was confident, saying, "We played soccer for real and I think our efforts to win will be delivered to the viewers."
'Shooting Star' will be released for the first time on Coupang Play at 8 p.m. on the 22nd.
