The National Intelligence Service and the government's joint investigation team on voice phishing crimes said they have confirmed that a malicious app that mimics the National Police Agency's phishing detection app "Citizen Conan" is being distributed in Korea.
The malicious app was modeled after the form of Citizen Conan by a voice phishing organization in China, and it was found that it disguised itself as an employee of a financial and investigative agency to induce installation under the guise of loan review or crime damage prevention, and then take out personal information.
The National Intelligence Service plans to cooperate with the Chinese authorities to find out the criminal organizations involved, and urged them to never access Citizen Conan if financial and investigative agencies ask them to install Citizen Conan by text.
