Hallasan Mountain is suffering from unauthorized dumping of garbage by visitors.

On the 13th, Yang Young-soo (Progressive Party, Ara-dong, Jeju-si) of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Council released 14 photos of the area around the wooden deck at the 433rd Provincial Council meeting.

Yang pointed out, "Unlike other famous mountains in other regions, the summit of Hallasan Mountain is well-maintained as a wooden deck," adding, "It seems okay on the outside because it looks good and is safe, but in fact, the summit of Hallasan Mountain is suffering like this."

"I can't say that the deck should be removed due to safety and other problems," he said. "But since the deck is well-established, visitors are staying at the top for too long and throwing away trash everywhere."

"At least, the act of eating at the top of Hallasan needs immediate action," he said. "It is also necessary to consider ways to clean up the environment of Hallasan with Jeju residents in the future."

Kim Ae-sook, deputy governor of Jeju Island's political affairs, said, "Employees of Jeju's World Heritage Natural Headquarters or the World Natural Heritage Hansan Keeper are always collecting trash, but there is still a lot of trash. I will try to make Hallasan Mountain free of trash," he said.
