President Yoon Suk Yeol said that the trilateral cooperation secretariat, which will be launched through the Korea-U.S.-Japan summit, will serve as a strong foundation for greater cooperation.

President Yoon, who is visiting Lima, Peru, to attend the APEC summit, said at the South Korea-U.S.-Japan summit in Lima that the severe regional and international security environment reminds us once again of the importance of trilateral cooperation.

He also said that the trilateral cooperation has developed into a comprehensive and institutional cooperation that encompasses high-tech and future generation exchanges, and that the "Korea-U.S.-Japan trilateral cooperation secretariat" will be a strong foundation for greater cooperation between the three countries.

He also stressed that cooperation among Korea, the U.S. and Japan in the midst of the global complex crisis is essential for the three countries' national interests and peace and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region.

In addition, he explained that the severe internal and external security environment, as shown by the recent dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, reminds us once again the importance of trilateral cooperation between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan.
