A nursing home in northern Spain's Aragon province caught fire around 5 a.m.
The emergency bell rang in the building where 82 people were housed, but not a few people could not get out of it.
Ten people died suffocated by the smoke.
Some of the injured are in critical condition, so the death toll can increase further.
[Fakita Morata / Family of Fire Victims: A terrible tragedy happened in a nursing home. Sometimes tragedy can't be avoided.]
At least, the firewall installed in the middle of the building prevented the fire and did not spread to greater devastation. The
state government suspended all public events for a day and mourned the victims.
Jorge Ascon / Governor of Aragon, Spain: I was very surprised. Ten elderly nursing homes have died. We are all very heartbroken.
Earlier, 224 people were killed in southeastern Spain, including Valencia, in a surprise downpour on the 29th of last month.
There were many problems in the response process, with disaster authorities sending late disaster texts to local residents.
The governor of Valencia officially apologized 17 days after the flood disaster.
[Carlos Mason / Governor of Valencia, Spain: There was not enough help or rescue in time. I apologize as governor for this.
In just over two weeks, many people lost valuable lives after a series of Sumas and Horses in Spain.
