Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party, who was deprived of his right to vote in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act, will attend a rally to denounce the regime in downtown Seoul today as scheduled.

The Democratic Party of Korea is struggling to maintain a single confrontation while being embarrassed by the unexpected ruling, and voices have erupted from the people's power to urge Lee to resign as the leader.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Na Hye-in and CEO Lee Jae-myung are attending the outdoor rally today?

[Reporter]
Yes, representative Lee Jae-myung, who convened an emergency supreme council meeting shortly after his sentencing yesterday, had a private dinner with some leaders and discussed future measures until the evening.

In a call with YTN, a key Democratic Party official said Lee did not change by denying what had already happened, but showed a calm attitude that the future was important.

Representative Lee will also attend a rally in downtown Seoul this afternoon, denouncing the alleged manipulation of state affairs by President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, and calling for a special prosecution.

It is expected to send a message to party members and supporters to continue to be with them, saying they will go unshakable.

However, there is a perplexing atmosphere within the Democratic Party.

There are many reactions that they expected a fine in the first place, but did not expect a suspended prison sentence.

If it is confirmed as it is, not only will Lee Jae-myung's individual deprivation of 10 years of his right to run for election, but he will also have to return 43.4 billion won in campaign funds that the Democratic Party of Korea preserved during the last presidential election, which could shake the party's finances.

The leadership is refraining from directly criticizing the judiciary, as the first trial of perjury teacher charges remains on the 25th.

However, a party official responded furiously, saying, "There are many people who think it is too much of a judgment beyond imagination and common sense."

Today, the Democratic Party of Korea will hold an emergency joint meeting attended by its lawmakers and regional chairmen across the country to strengthen a single foundation.

The offensive against President Yoon and his wife is likely to strengthen further in the future, and some predict that voices such as impeachment of the president or constitutional amendment to shorten his term could become louder.

What is the reaction of the people's power?

[Reporter]
The people's power, which had been on the defensive due to the opposition's attack on First Lady Kim Gun-hee, seems to have gained momentum to turn the tide.

Representative Lee's guilty conviction has been launched into a massive counterattack.

CEO Han Dong-hoon wrote on social media that if a criminal defendant becomes president, the trial will be suspended, summoning back the topic he had raised in the past, and that it does not change by force.

After becoming president, he claimed that even if the probation was confirmed, he would lose his job and that the election should be held again.

Within the ruling party, there were voices calling for the resignation of Chairman Lee Jae-myung as the party's leader along with the Democratic Party's demand for an apology.

Rep. Kim Ki-hyun said on social media that the shrineization of the political party for bulletproofness and the abuse of the National Assembly as a means of intimidation by the judiciary would eventually have been a weighting factor in sentencing, adding that representative Lee would have to resign and reflect on himself in the upcoming trial.

Inside the ruling party, President Yoon Suk Yeol is expected to exercise his right to demand reconsideration, or veto, and it seems that he has the momentum to maintain a single confrontation ahead of the re-vote of the 3rd Special Prosecutor's Act.

However, the Democratic Party also does not seem to have any intention of lowering the level of the rental offensive, and the political situation is expected to fall into more turbulence in the future.
