The fashion industry, which has been blamed for environmental destruction, is working on eco-friendly fashion.

It uses waste materials generated in dismantling inventory in warehouses or producing mattresses and airbags.

There is an increasing 'value consumption' of buying clothes and products from companies that reduce carbon emissions.

Reporter Lee Kwang-yeon covered it.

A white winter vest that can be worn like a blanket.

It is made by recycling scraps of fabric and waste fishing nets from the process of making bed mattresses, but the design does not push it at all.

The fashion world, which has been recognized as the main culprit of environmental destruction, is focusing on eco-friendly fashion.

Dismantling the inventory, a long-standing concern in the fashion world, to come up with a product of a completely different design.

[Choi Yuna / Eco-Friendly Fashion Brand Manager: We use unsold inventory, and we also use airbags, military materials, car seats, and other industrial materials.]

Throughout the process of making clothes by making yarn from discarded plastic bottles and minimizing dyeing, we consider animal rights and are conscious of nature.

[Yang Yoon-ah/ Vegan Fashion Designer: We are developing a collection by replacing sustainable materials instead of animal-based raw materials. If humans help nature a little, nature has the power to resuscitate itself.

It helps to wear clothes that are recycled from tired or old memories for longer, and it also provides an experience of touching and sewing the fabric at all to target so-called "green shmers."

The reason why the fashion world is rushing to spread "sustainable" fashion is largely due to the growing awareness of the climate crisis and the increasing number of consumers who prefer eco-friendly companies.

In fact, 82% of consumers were willing to buy eco-friendly products, and 93% said they would buy them even if they were more expensive.

[Jin Hong-gyu / Oksu-dong, Seoul: There was a prejudice against eco-friendly materials, but it disappeared today and it was made of sofa. [I can imagine the image of the closed sofa...]

In particular, as the U.S. and European textile industries take the lead in building eco-friendly ecosystems, the domestic fashion industry is also keeping pace with the so-called "good fashion" trend.

[Um Yoon-sang / Director of the Korea Creative Content Agency: We've been supporting about 30 brands since 3 years ago. Eco-friendly code is no longer someone else's problem. [Because it's a problem that touches the skin and needs to be supported at the national level...]

Due to the nature of the domestic fashion industry, which is highly dependent on exports, it may be difficult to expand overseas if eco-friendly materials are not used.

With the paradigm shift of prioritizing the environment and the spread of 'value consumption', eco-friendly policies in the fashion world are becoming a necessity, not an option.
