Fire at the shopping mall in Danwon-gu, Ansan..."52 rescued, 2 seriously injured"

A fire broke out at around 3:30 a.m. today (17th) in a six-story commercial building in Gojan-dong, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The fire department issued a "second stage of response" to mobilize personnel and equipment from surrounding fire departments, and put out the fire in an hour and 10 minutes, and completely extinguished the fire about an hour later at 5:50.

Fire officials searched the interior and rescued 52 people, including seven foreigners, of whom 31 were taken to hospitals.

There were two seriously injured, and fortunately, the consciousness was clear.

Two people jumped out of the building, falling on an air mat installed by the fire department and were not seriously injured.

The fire department believes that a fire broke out in a restaurant on the first floor and is investigating the exact cause of the fire through on-site inspection.
