U.S. officials say U.S.-provided missiles are likely initially used against Russian and North Korean forces to defend Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of western Russia.
In the meantime, President Biden has provided Ukraine with cutting-edge weapons such as the Atax missile, but has not provided weapons that can attack deep into the Russian mainland for fear of escalation.
It also placed restrictions on Ukraine from using U.S.-supported weapons to attack mainland Russia.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly asked Biden to lift the restrictions so that U.S.-provided missiles can be used in attacks inside Russia.
