The Korea Consumer Agency issued a consumer damage warning for direct overseas purchases at the end of the year, when large-scale discount events such as Black Friday in the U.S. were concentrated.

From 2021 to last year, there were more than 29,800 consultations on the purchase of online products directly from overseas to the Korea Consumer Agency, which is on the rise every year.

Among them, between November and December, when large-scale discount events were concentrated, the number of consultations was the highest at 5,900.

Cancellation, refund, delay or refusal of exchange accounted for the majority of the reasons for consultation, with 24%, followed by non-delivery and delivery delay.

The Korea Consumer Agency said that there are also a series of shopping mall damages that lose contact after impersonating famous brands or attracting consumers with high discount rates, and urged people to be especially careful when accessing the site after seeing SNS advertisements.

If damage occurs during the process of using overseas direct purchase, you can consult with the 'International Transaction Consumer Portal' (crossborder.kca.go.kr ).
