KEPCO President Kim Dong-cheol stressed that expanding the electrical grid is KEPCO's original core task for "stable power supply" and that it is an essential national task to support future high-tech industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
In addition, KEPCO said it should mobilize all resources and capabilities to make every effort to expand the future power grid.
Earlier, KEPCO held a company-wide opinion gathering and discussion meeting to derive five key agendas for expanding the electrical grid, including the establishment of a dedicated organization with the Power System Committee.
KEPCO plans to increase transmission lines and substations by 2036, setting up the "10th Long-Term Transmission and Substation Plan" worth 56 trillion won, but construction has been delayed due to the decrease in the capacity of local residents and local governments to power facilities.
