Eleven member unions, including the teachers' union and the Gangwon Teachers' Union, held a press conference calling for Kim Yong-seo, chairman of the Federation, to resign, saying that he interfered in the election of the member unions, undermining independence and encouraging division among central executive members.
They argued that Chairman Kim should make a decision before going into impeachment, saying that whenever the member unions raised issues, Chairman Kim consistently made excuses or avoided communication.
Prior to the press conference, Chairman Kim issued a statement on the federation's website, saying that some members of the franchise union distorted "problems within the organization" to inform the outside world and adversely affect the entire union.
The teachers' union is the largest teachers' union in Korea with 120,000 teachers nationwide.
