Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it is investigating a sergeant in his 30s, A, of the U.S. Forces Korea, on charges of assaulting a passerby and seriously injuring him.

Sergeant A is accused of hitting teenage B in the face on the street near Pyeongtaek Station at around 0:30 a.m. yesterday (17th).

B is known to have fractured his jawbone, and since Sergeant A claims that he was also hit, the police have also booked B for investigation.

However, since B is seriously injured and cannot make a statement, we plan to first check the details of the incident based on CCTV and witness statements.
