The Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office said it handed over four people, including a building owner in his 60s, to trial in custody on charges of failing to take proper safety measures in connection with the fire at a hotel in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, where seven people died in August.

They are accused of killing seven guests and injuring 12 others by failing to properly manage safety in connection with the hotel fire in August.

According to the investigation, A took over the hotel in 2017 and replaced the air conditioner, and continued to use the existing wires without replacing the entire wiring.

In addition, the hotel manager was found to have arbitrarily turned off the alarm without confirmation, although the alarm went off immediately after the fire, and the hotel operator was found to have poorly prepared the fire plan without receiving any training related to fire safety.
