The National Police Agency said it plans to come up with a plan for a dedicated license by January next year after a survey and consultation with related agencies.
The police have already requested research services from the Korea Road Traffic Research Institute twice in 2021 and 2023 to come up with a plan to improve the system, but it has not crossed the National Assembly threshold. The method of obtaining a
license is to take only a written test, to take a skill test with a department, and to complete only online training.
Under the current Road Traffic Act, shared electric kickboards can only be used by people over the age of 16 and who have a motor license or higher.
