Germany has decided to supply 4,000 artificial intelligence (AI) guided drones to Ukraine, AFP reported.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told reporters at an event in Bavaria on the 18th local time that the drone could break down the enemy's defenses.

Minister Pistorius explained that domestic drones will be delivered quickly to Ukraine and can be deployed 30 to 40 kilometers rearward from the front line to attack targets such as combat bases and logistics bases.

AFP predicted that drones supplied by Germany could reach Russian territory on some sections of the Ukrainian front.

The announcement came amid reports that the U.S. has allowed Ukraine to attack Russian internal targets with its own long-range missile ATACMS.

However, Germany's Defense Ministry reaffirmed its policy not to support Ukraine with its long-range cruise missile Taurus, saying at a briefing that the prime minister's decision remained unchanged.

Ukraine has been asking Germany to support Taurus missiles with a range of more than 500 kilometers, but Prime Minister Olaf Scholz refuses to do so, saying there are fears of escalation.
