The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's Central Investigation Team for Hazardous Crimes caught three companies on charges of violating the Special Act on Imported Food Safety Management, arrested two representatives and sent five without detention.
They are accused of having Indian manufacturers mix 98.5% milk and 1.5% goat oil from April to August last year and falsely reporting it as a 100% goat oil product and bringing it into the country.
They were also found to have colluded with a domestic food manufacturer to make and sell 41 tons of crude oil worth 1.8 billion won from illegally imported raw materials.
The raw material importers in question were found to have issued false test reports to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and stored normal-based wild-oil products at their business sites in preparation for the government's collection inspection.
