The Board of Audit and Inspection reportedly detected circumstantial evidence that top officials of the Moon Jae In government leaked South Korea-U.S. military operations related to the replacement of the THAAD missile, a high-altitude missile defense system, to civic groups and China.

As a result, the Board of Audit and Inspection asked the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to investigate four people, including former National Security Office chief Chung Eui-yong and former Defense Minister Chung Kyung-doo, on charges of violating the Military Confidential Protection Act and abusing their authority.

The Board of Audit and Inspection believes that Chung Eui-yong and others leaked to civic groups the South Korea-U.S. military operations related to the missile replacement of the THAAD battery, which is a class 2 secret, to slow down the official deployment of THAAD in South Korea.

It is also known that he explained military secrets such as the name, date and time of the THAAD missile replacement operation to a defense officer belonging to the Chinese Embassy in Korea.

Earlier in July last year, the Korea Defense Reserve Corps, a group of former military generals, requested a public interest audit, and three months later, the Board of Audit and Inspection began an audit of 11 organizations, including the Blue House Security Office and the Ministry of National Defense.
