Floor spokesman Shin Dong-wook and lawmaker Park Choong-kwon submitted some amendments to the North Korean Human Rights Act to the National Assembly's bill department.
The key to the revision is to recommend directors within 30 days of receiving the request from the Ministry of Unification, and to appoint directors under the authority of the Minister of Unification if the National Assembly refuses to comply with the recommendation despite the Ministry of Unification's request.
Spokesman Shin Dong-wook told reporters after submitting the amendment, "The foundation has not been launched eight years after the law was passed because the Democratic Party ignored the request for the recommendation of directors," and urged them to cooperate if they really value the human rights of North Koreans.
