The Seoul Transportation Corporation's labor union, which operates Seoul Subway Lines 1 to 8, has warned of a general strike on the 6th of next month, calling for a reduction in manpower and the withdrawal of the single-person flight system.

The Seoul Transportation Corporation Labor Union, the largest labor union of the corporation, held a press conference and said, "The subway labor site has not been able to shake off anxiety and fear, from a series of major industrial accidents and deaths from blood cancer that have been revealed later this year."

He then claimed that the Seoul Metropolitan Government recently forced restructuring and blocked new hiring, which immediately led to a serious work gap and manpower shortage.

At the same time, he urged the withdrawal of restructuring, normalization of manpower operations, suspension of the introduction of the single-person crew system, prevention of industrial accidents and establishment of fundamental measures, and resolution of unfair wage cuts.

Earlier, the labor union's vote on the industrial action held from the 15th to the 18th was approved with about 71% approval, and the union held a second mediation meeting with the management at the Seoul Labor Relations Commission yesterday, but the decision to suspend the mediation secured legal right to dispute.

As a result, the union decided to take collective action, such as compliance with the law, compliance with the work of a group of two, and refusal to work outside of the inspection set forth in the regulations, starting on the 20th.

If the strike materializes, it will go on strike for the third year in a row, and the National Railroad Workers' Union has also announced an indefinite general strike early next month, raising concerns about a transportation chaos in the Seoul metropolitan area.
