Among married women, the proportion of so-called working mothers who work while raising children has reached an all-time high.

The NSO said the employment rate of married women aged between 15 and 54 living with children under the age of 18 was 62.4 percent in the first half of this year, up 2.4 percentage points from last year, the highest ever.

By age, the employment rate of 50 to 54 years old was 68.6% and the employment rate of 30 to 34 years old was 56.3%, and the younger the age and the more children the lower the employment rate.

Among married women aged 15 to 54, the number of career-interrupted women was 1.125,000 and 15.9%, down 1.1% from last year, the lowest ever.

The most common reason for career-interrupted women to quit their jobs was childcare at 41.1%, followed by marriage at 24.9%, pregnancy at 24.4%, and child education at 4.7%.
