Prosecutors are looking into allegations that lawyer Lee Jong-geun, husband of Rep. Park Eun-jung of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, defended a person involved in a criminal case after retirement.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently allocated the case of lawyer Lee Jong-geun's alleged violation of the Lawyers Act to the Criminal Proceeds and Recovery Department.

On the 8th, the Legal Ethics Council asked the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office to investigate lawyer Lee on charges of violating the Lawyers Act.

The council reportedly judged that the process of defending one of the people who was reported and ordered when lawyer Lee served in the prosecution in the past after retirement was unclear.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Revenue and Recovery Department is also investigating allegations that lawyer Lee received 2.2 billion won for taking over the case even though he knew it was criminal proceeds of multi-level fraud worth 1 trillion won.
