Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province gathered 600 residents in one place.
A place to gather public opinion ahead of the enactment of new ordinances related to integrated cities and counties.
The ordinance included maintaining the existing benefits for 12 years to prevent abolished local residents from losing money even if cities and counties were integrated.
We have in mind the integration of Jeonju and Wanju.
[Kim Jong-pil / Director of Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province Autonomous Administration: We do not allow disadvantages to local residents. The provisions related to this are included in the Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province Ordinance....]
The residents' briefing session was used to refute the so-called "three bombshells" of the opposition to the integration that they would take on taxes, debt and hate facilities.
The basic income or ordinary grant tax will vary depending on the local economic conditions after the integration, and the residents of Wanju-gun tried to shake off their concerns about the financial burden.
He also explained that Jeonju can repay the debt of more than 350 billion won on its own.
In addition, various explanations continued, and in the end, there was a view that the key to integration was large concessions from the middleman, regional organizations, and large basic organizations.
[Nam Ki-yong / Chairman of the Win-Win Development Committee, Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do: Jeonju and Wanju have similar geographical conditions to Cheongju in Cheongwon. I think it is necessary to be considerate of the military in unconditional and attempting.]
There is still strong opposition from the people of Wanju-gun.
This is the fourth attempt to integrate the two regions, Jeonju and Wanju.
If the referendum is held after collecting public opinion, it is expected to be in May next year.
